Merino - Textile Terms

Definition:
Merino is known for its supreme softness. Merino fleece has a very fine fiber diameter and a bright white color and high crimp. The wool scales in the merino fleece are very close together causing it to felt quite easily. Merino doesn't take dye readily, so dyed colors are usually pastel.

Merino fleece should be finely spun, with some loft. It is excellent for knitted or woven clothing.
