Training

: I have been weaving tapestries for 21 years, and painting and drawing all my life. I have taught art at night classes at Tauranga Boy's High School in the 1980's. Have been teaching tapestry and design to Weavers' Guilds and privately in my studio for many years. Am a self taught artist with a national and international reputation

Weaving

"Tapestry for Beginners". Students weave a sampler of the different tapestry techniques.

"Intermediate Tapestry". Students consolidate what they have learnt in the Beginner Class. These classes can also incorporate a number of more difficult techniques which are explored thoroughly, each technique being a different class.

"Designing for Tapestry". A course in which I teach some of the many ways in which a tapestry can be designed, such as how to use photographs as a starting point for design, the use of photocopiers, and how to put it together into a collage,

"The Elements of Design". A more formal class on the elements of design such as composition, balance, contrast, texture, colour, etc.

Travel

I prefer to teach from my studio, but have taught at various Weavers' Guilds around New Zealand in the past. My studio can take a maximum of six students. I also offer a Studio Experience where a student can work in the studio for a nominated time, usually a minimum of five days.
