This is music with a traditional sound but one you can tap your feet and sing along to. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be looking out for their albums. Special thanks to Switchback, Anne de Courtenay, and Jayn Lando for letting us hear this tune first.
SWITCHBACK was founded 14 years ago by Illinois natives Marty McCormack and Brian FitzGerald. Marty’s vibrant voice and solid bass guitar combine with Brian’s blistering rhythm style on guitar and mandolin to form a contagious, unique sound.
Switchback blends their Celtic, jazz and blues roots into original songs that appeal to a broad audience.
A band that tours throughout the country, Switchback has played with the likes of Leon Russell, John Hartford and the Blazers. In addition to regularly performing for packed clubs, Switchback is committed to presenting their music to audiences whose access to live entertainment is limited — retirement centers, hospitals, schools, nursing homes and prisons. The year 2000 kicked off their successful "Austin to Austin" tour, raising money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
From haunting ballads to raucous rockers, Switchback’s emphasis is always the song. Nancy Whiskey is the band's 6th album, which is being released just in time for St. Patrick's Day. Their next all-original album "The Fire That Burns" will be available in the late summer of this year.
