Navajo Dine - Goddess of Weaving
The Children and the Hummingbird
An excerpt from a Spiderwoman story.
The Hopie Legend of the Spiderwoman
In the beginning there were only two: Tawa, the Sun God, and Spider Woman (Kokyanwuhti), the Earth Goddess. All the mysteries and the powers in the Above belonged to Tawa, while Spider Woman controlled the magic of the Below.
Grandmother Spider Woman
A quilt collage based on the legends of Spider woman. The quilt was pieced from handwoven fabrics. The people climbing up one of the borders, represent the emergence of all the clans climbing towards the sun. The large spider on the web represents a story I read about Spider stealing the light.
