Crackle Weave |
|
Crackle or Jämtlandsväv is similar to overshot and summer and winter weaves. Weft threads pass over 3 warp threads and are bound down by the 4th warp thread. On a 4 shaft loom, 4 pattern blocks are possible. The transition from one block to the next requires an incidental thread that is a repeat of the first thread of the block.

| I designed this crackle weave fabric with a lightweight summer jacket in mind. I like the soft, natural colors that Foxfiber cotton yarns provide.

Warp |
10/2 Foxfiber cotton, 4200 ypp
colors: Buffalo - B100, B50, B25
Green - G100, G50, G25
Coyote - C100, C50, C25
Each crackle design block was threaded using alternate color blocks of green and brown with a random selection of the various shades of Foxfiber colors. This added an interesting depth of color to the pattern blocks.
