International Weaving Symposium Finland 2009

Are you looking to learn some new techniques in weaving? The weaving symposium that is going to be held in Finland this year will cover topics such as Finnish rag rugs - Räsymatto, poppana, Karelian laceweaving - pitsipoiminta, crios - pirtanauha, Karelian red picking - punapoiminta, Rya rugs - Ryijy matto - using contemporary materials, and much more.

The International Weaving Symposium, summer 2009 in Joensuu, It's purpose is to gather textile professionals, students and hobbyists alike from around the world for an active weaving-centred symposium. The symposium offers to all those interested in weaving the possibilities to exchange experiences, stories and new influences alongside traditional weaving techniques. In addition we have arranged a seminar featuring some of the foremost weaving specialists. The main languages of the symposium are English and Finnish.

The International Weaving Symposium is organized by the North Karelian Finnish Crafts Association. Price: 600 euros (incl. VAT) includes: workshops, seminars, lunches, afternoon coffee, dinner Monday and Friday, Evening Programme partially, Tour of Lake Pielinen and Folk Celebration, where we will celebrate 100 yrs of North Karelian Finnish Crafts Association.

Hotel lodging is in double rooms. Price is 37,50 €/person/room/night and it is including breakfast.
